Consulting Services

Consulting Services and Process

An independent consultant is often able to meet a precise need for an organization much more cost-effectively than can a large-firm. When you work with me we work together: no pre-set solutions, but rather a well-thought out process designed to solve your particular problem.

Depending on the project, I can either work alone, or take on a particular piece and partner with other consultants.  In particular, it is often helpful to bring in a facilitation expert to help run a meeting when another consultant is heavily involved with the organization.

You can e-mail me at meredithnelson1@bellsouth.net or call me at (919) 916-0144

My services include:

  • Facilitation: Let me run your meeting/workshop/focus group. I can take on as much or as little as you need. Sometimes all it takes is a neutral voice to keep things running smoothly; other times a group needs help with planning and wrapping things up.
  • Resource Reviews: Are you using your resources wisely? How can you do things differently? Building a resource model can help with both long- and short-term planning.
  • Organizational Assessment: Something not quite right? Sometimes an outsider can help identify problems and issues that are not readily apparent. All it takes are the right questions, trust and confidence.

Getting Started

If you are thinking about working with me, here it how it goes:

Step 1: Consultation

The most important part of any project is determining that the consultant is a good fit for the project. We start by discussing your needs and objectives, either in person or over the phone and confirming that I am the right person for you. I then develop a project plan/contract.

Step 2: Contract

Before getting started it is important we agree to project terms. I develop a contract, which generally includes: a project description, methodology, timeline, deliverables, costs/terms of payment.

Step 3:  Delivery

We work together to ensure the project is completed as outlined in the contract.  The deliverable may be as simple as a facilitated meeting or might involve a project report.  It all depends on what the client needs!
